Beautiful service for a very nice man. With love Shaun & Christine x
Mick and I, together with our wives, who were both named Shirley, were life long friends. Mick and I first met at 9 years old, following my return to Ashford, having been evacuated from London during the war. His mother had just died and my mum, became somewhat of a surrogate mother to him, for a short while, as we lived close by. Being the same age, we schooled together, left and started work in the same company Headley printers, where there he met his Shirley and I met mine, who worked at the local M&S. We had a brief parting at 18 doing our national sevice. he in the navy myself in the army, but still managed to meet up on leave. Followng our two years service, we both married our Shirley's within a year of each other, had holidays and family's, continuing our close friendship, this overall had spanned a period of nearly 80 years. Although our carrears took us to many different places, we never lost touch for long. Having had three sisters, Mick was like the brother I never had. I shall miss him immeasurably. My thanks to Shirley, Kevin, Martin, and the family, for giving Mick such a beautiful funeral, which befitted a lovely and remarkable man. I feel our friendship will continue someday, perhaps in another life!
